The Canadian Economics Olympiad (CEO) is Canada’s premier high school economics competition and official qualifier for the International Economics Olympiad (IEO) and Economics Olympiad International Final Round (EO IFR)

The 2026 Canadian Economics Olympiad is now over. The registration for the 2027 Olympiad will open in January 2027.

Preliminary dates for the 2027 Canadian Economics Olympiad are as follows:

• Round 1: February 13 (online)

• Round 2 (“National Finals”): April 8 (in person, by invitation, based on the results of Round 1)

• Mini Business Case: April 17 (online, by invitation, based on the results of Round 2)

  • Note: Mini Business Case is not a part of the Canadian Economics Olympiad but is used to finalize Team Canada for the IEO for students who do not advance to Team Canada directly from the Final round.

We welcome help from both financial sponsors (to send Canadian students to the IEO and EO IFR) as well as teachers, academic professionals, and university students (to help with Canadian Economics Olympiad development). We accept donations from both individual donors and organizations - no donations are too small (we recognize all donations of $30 or above on our website, or, if you prefer to remain anonymous, we are happy with that too; please email us for details). We are also open to long-term partnerships with any business or educational organization. All people involved in the Canadian Economics Olympiad are volunteers, and we never get paid for our work, but we need money to send 5 Canadian high school students, Team Canada, to the International Economics Olympiad and another 5 to the Economics Olympiad International Final Round. • Recommended Prerequisites:
  Students are strongly encouraged to have already completed AP Microeconomics and Macroeconomics, as well as Advanced Functions and Calculus. Lorvale Academy also offers these courses upon request.
