Eligibility
The CEO is open to anyone who meets all of the following criteria:
is less than 20 years old
is a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident OR lives and studies in Canada
Did not graduate from a high school by January 1 of the year of the competition
has strong English proficiency (the CEO is currently only offered in English)
The 2026 Canadian Economics Olympiad is now over. The registration for the 2027 Olympiad will open in January 2027.
Preliminary dates for the 2027 Canadian Economics Olympiad are as follows:
Round 1: February 13 (online)
Round 2 (“National Finals”): April 8 (in person, by invitation, based on the results of Round 1)
Mini Business Case: April 17 (online, by invitation, based on the results of Round 2)
Note: Mini Business Case is not a part of the Canadian Economics Olympiad but is used to finalize Team Canada for the IEO for students who do not advance to Team Canada directly from the Final round.
